Serena's Joy: A Tribute to Lori's Compassionate Care
Lori is the best and I am sad that Serena, my Basenji, will not be able to see her every day. We are moving away, and I too feel the loss and the peace of mind knowing Lori would be taking care of my dog.
I have had other trainers/dog walkers in the past and while they performed the duty, none could be more affectionate to my dog, Serena.
Serena is a lovely dog, but a bit of a loner and I started to see the difference in her since Lori came into her life. Just the mention of Lori’s name, Serena perks up.
My dog no longer cries when I get home because Lori takes her out in the afternoon for a nice long walk. Serena never walks well with me but Lori is able to get Serena’s attention.

I have to share what happened after you left. I had Marmie at the neighbors and when we called her she came and sat at our feet. Luckily I had a treat in my pocket! Then later John was watering the side yard and I let her out with him. After a while I went to get something out in the garage. Imagine my surprise to find Marmie sitting at the door there to come in. I did not realize John had the front gate open. She could have gone anywhere! Later in the evening I was out with her and called her to come in. I turned my back and then looked for her outside the door. I couldn’t find her in the yard. I went back to the door and her little face was looking out at me. She had gone right by me when I called her to come.

One of the best investments I have ever made…
When I thought about getting a dog for the first time, I imagined how it would be. How good my dog would be, how well behaved, how many tricks it could do and thought I had it down. I thought I could handle it no problem. Well I have to admit I was in over my head and after a while my girlfriend kept pushing me to get some help and finally I did. From the start of our first session with Lori, me and Antares were having fun. He loved her instantly and was ready to learn. Lori starts with a simple yet strong foundation of getting and maintaining your dogs attention then moves on to basic commands. After that, she taught us a couple tricks that I constantly show off to friends who tell me ”Oh he’s such a good dog!” while I take all the credit for it. Lori was a pleasure to work with and I know she made my life way easier and if you put the work in you will have more than just a well trained dog. One of the best investments I have ever made.

Before we picked up our Husky puppy, Oxford, I asked his breeder if she recommended any dog trainers in my area. She suggested I reach out to Lori. After Ox came home I reached out to ask if we could start training as soon as possible. I also asked if we could upgrade his program from the Well Mannered to the Dream Dog program. It was the best decision and investment we have made for Ox and ourselves. Ox started training with Lori at 8 weeks and finished his training at around 7 months. He is 9 months now and is hands down a dream dog. Everyone we meet finds Ox\’s great behavior impressive. It was amazing to have a 4 month puppy walking next to me on a leash. Ox knows over 20 commands and is a such quick learner. This has allowed us to try and enjoy new activities with him. He runs next to us on and off the bike without pulling. When we go kayaking he lies down quietly and enjoys the scenery. We can take him anywhere knowing he will behave. We’re taking a few more classes to prepare him for the Canine Good Citizen Test so he can become a therapy dog .
I recommend Lori to anyone in the Boca Raton, FL. area with a dog looking to build good behaviors or curb bad ones. She’s very knowledgeable about dog training and made the entire process fun for us and Ox. Her knowledge is truly impressive! Lori is also patient and supportive. I had so many questions each week, some not related to training, and she gave us so much guidance.
Lori is one of the few people we would trust with Ox. She cares for him like he’s her own. Ox adores her and can’t help but let out some loud excited howls when he sees her!

We picked up our little Staffordshire Bull Terrier at just 8 weeks old and as most bully breeds, our one concern was people being scared of him when he got older. We did some training research and were referred to Lori by our vet. We checked her out online and after reading some of the other success stories, we knew she was the one.
After just 6 personal training sessions, he now knows 8 commands and 1 trick! We now walk around our complex and he is giving all of our neighbors high fives! Lori gave us the confidence to take Sonny everywhere
We got our yellow Labrador puppy, Sonny, at 8 weeks of age. I had broken my toe and my husband thought a puppy would be a good companion for me while I recuperated. Little did we know that my toe would need surgery and external fixator pins and that I would be in bed for days convalescing. We met Lori (who was highly recommended by our vet Dr. Turkell at Calusa Veterinary Center in Boca) and were impressed with her training skills and personable nature. We asked her to not only help us train our puppy, but look after me also.
Lori became my personal assistant, nursemaid, chauffeur and Sonny’s full time dog nanny for a period of 4 months. She continued on part-time for another 6 months. Sonny loved her and flourished. He only chewed two items in our entire house (he got to them when we weren’t supervising him) and only had a handful of potty accidents. Because of Lori’s guidance, Sonny loves to go to the dog park (I was a nervous wreck our first few visits – Sonny was fine!) and beach and is always making friends. He quickly learned the basic skills and Lori taught us how to replicate everything on our own. Sonny is now 2 years old and is happy and well-adjusted. He loves his crate and will sit and “shake” on command (amongst many other commands). I credit Lori with his amazing social skills and lack of anxiety, as she gave us the confidence to take him everywhere during the critical socialization period during his young life. We are lifelong friends and love “Lori-Lori” – we recommend her highly!!

I would like to let anyone that is looking for a dog trainer to look no further than Lori!! She trained my insane 4 month old pug, Aura, on a weekly basis and really was awesome!! My papillon Sparky was an extremely moody dog when it came to greeting guests at our home. He showed some aggressive tendencies when anyone visited, even to those who he had already met before.

I have a 5 year old spoiled rotten Olde English Bulldog named Lefty. Over the years he has developed some bad habits i.e. jumping on guests who enter my home, jealousy of small children or pretty much anyone who takes my full attention away from him. I decided to get an obedience assessment and that is when I found Lori Hill. When Lori arrived, Lefty demonstrated his typical greeting at the door. Lori immediately assessed this and suggested some practice activities to try. She also gave me suggestions of how to train my guests to not feed into Lefty’s negative behavior.
Lori picked up immediately that Lefty is a good dog but does have some behaviors that need to be worked on and that he is very food motivated. We reviewed several activities to establish a better relationship between us and we have been working on this weekly. We also discussed crate training and Lori provided me with some fantastic literature to utilize in crate training an older dog in the shortest time period possible.
Lori’s personality and gentle demeanor won over Lefty immediately and he wanted to please her as he does me. He even followed the ”down” command immediately although we had been struggling with that one since he was a puppy.
We have been practicing his lessons regularly and Lori checks in on us periodically. I’m very happy with Lori Hill as a trainer / behavioral therapist for my stubborn dog.

Finding Lori has been a great experience!
I rescued my dog Nala when she was 11 months old. I knew right away she and I both would need some guidance for her. She had great exuberance and intelligence but no concept of how to follow any directions from me. Finding Lori has been a great experience! She is a wonderful trainer. Her training method is geared towards working with Nala and the way her doggy mind operates. There is only positive and gentle reinforcement; no forcing of a behavior or punishment is involved. The lessons are very simple.
Nala loves her and is eager to please when learning something new. I am also happy that I am a part of the training. Lori works very patiently with me and always emails the lessons as we learn them so that I can continue to practice with Nala daily. She’s helped me understand how to guide Nala to be a well behaved and happy pet. Just a walk around the neighborhood used to be virtually impossible because I would be struggling to control Nala while she tried to drag me this way and that way. Now we take long, pleasurable walks and visit area dog parks without a problem. Thank you Lori!!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Lori!
After rescuing my husky mix Akela, we found she was reactive to other dogs. She usually responds by growling, barking, snapping, and lunging at them. We have been working with Lori to help her be less fearful and to tone down her extreme response to other dogs.
Lori is amazing! She is excellent at calmly assessing the situation, reading dogs’ body language, keeping everybody under control, and communicating how we humans should respond. She is also really good at giving us follow up instructions, so Akela and I can keep working while on our daily walks, even between official training sessions. The best part is that Lori only uses positive reinforcement–never punishment–and she is SO knowledgeable. You can really tell how much she loves animals.
Lori is also very reliable and trustworthy. I have absolutely no worries when I leave Akela in her care if I’m not around. And Akela, who is often indifferent to humans, LOVES Lori. She gets so excited whenever Lori comes over!! If anyone needs someone to work with their fur baby, I can wholeheartedly recommend Lori!.
